Chicken nuggets breaded in corn flakes and spices, air fried to golden perfection, and then tossed in a homemade hot honey sauce!

Chicken nuggets are one of my favorite appetizers to make. And making them in the air fryer is by far my favorite way to cook them. They are ready in minutes and come out so crispy and delicious!

For this recipe I bread the nuggets in gluten-free corn flakes, a touch of gluten-free flour, and a bunch of hot spices. And then once they’re done cooking I toss them in a sticky sweet & spicy hot honey sauce. You can eat them with a side of ranch or pop them on a salad. Either way they’ll always taste amazing!

  • Seasonings - Salt, Chili Powder, Cayenne Pepper, Red Pepper Flakes, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder

  • Pantry - Corn Flakes, Gluten Free Flour, Honey, Hot Sauce

  • Dairy - Almond Milk

  • Meat - Eggs, Chicken Breast

Hot Honey Chicken Nuggets

Sticky, sweet & spicy chicken nuggets air fried until golden and tossed in a homemade hot honey sauce!

Ingredients

Chicken Nuggets
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 2 cups organic corn flakes
  • 2 tbsp gluten free flour (or all-purpose)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened plain almond milk (or regular milk)
  • 1tsp salt
Hot Honey Sauce
  • 1/3 cup hot sauce (I use Frank's Buffalo Sauce)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a bowl and mix with the milk and salt. Cut the chicken into 1" cubes and let sit in the egg mixture until ready to bread them.
  2. In a food processor, combine the corn flakes, flour, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Pulse until breadcrumbs form. Transfer them to a large zip lock bag.
  3. Take each piece of chicken out of the eggs and place in the breadcrumb bag. Shake until they are all evenly coated.
  4. Air fry chicken at 400 F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small pan, heat the ingredients on low for the hot honey sauce. Whisk until it's combined and heat until it starts to bubble.
  6. Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken nuggets and toss.
  7. Serve and enjoy! I serve them with thyme on top and ranch for dipping.
