Chicago Style Pigs in a Blanket

Did someone say gameday apps? Well speaking of… these are literally the easiest yet tastiest dish you can bring to any gameday party. A twist on the classic pigs in a blanket, these pack heat and a little crunch! I promise they’ll be gone in minutes as soon as you set them down. Maybe make 2 batches… anyways, here’s how to do it!

In all seriousness, I don’t just make this recipe on gamedays. Pigs in a blanket have actually been a staple in my family for as long as I can remember. I think one of my siblings told my nonna how much we liked them, and she just never stopped making them.. classic nonna behavior. So now, we’ll still go over to her house for Sunday dinner in which she cooks an absolute Italian feast (lasagna, chicken cutlets, caprese salad), and what does she make for an appetizer? Pigs in a blanket.

Here are the Ingredients for these Chicago Style Pigs in a Blanket:

  • Vegetables - White Onion, Pepperoncini, Cornichon Pickles

  • Seasonings - Salt, Pepper, Nutmeg, Paprika, Turmeric

  • Pantry - Yellow Mustard, Dijon Mustard, Whole Grain Mustard, Mayo, Everything Bagel Seasoning, Sweet Pickle Relish, Oil Spray

  • Protein - Cocktail Sausages, Egg

  • Other - Crescent Roll Dough

Pigs in a Blanket

A Chicago twist on the classic pigs in a blanket! A perfect treat for a weekend full of football!

Ingredients

  • 1 package crescent roll dough
  • 16 cocktail sausages
  • 16 pepperoncini
  • 16 cornichon pickles
  • Yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup chopped white onion
  • Egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp water)
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • 3 tbsp Mayo
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • Oil spray
  • Yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Place the crisper plate into the Cosori air fryer basket.
  2. Select the preheat function, adjust temperature to 335 F, then press start/pause.
  3. Unroll crescent dough and slice into 32 long triangles.
  4. Spread 1/2 tsp yellow mustard onto half the triangles of dough. Sprinkle a little bit of onions and then roll each with a cocktail sausage, pepperoncini, and cornichon pickle. Roll it again in another plain dough triangle so they are double wrapped.
  5. Brush the egg wash on top of each pig in a blanket and sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning.
  6. Spray the air fryer crisper plate with olive oil spray and place each pig in a blanket in the basket.
  7. Select Bake function, adjust temperature to 335 F and time to 9 minutes and press start/ pause.
  8. Make the pickle mustard sauce by combining the Mayo, dijon, whole grain mustard, and sweet pickle relish.
  9. Remove pigs in a blanket when done and serve with pickle mustard sauce.
