If you have extra nuts lying around, use them to make your own Nut Butter at home!
I go through peanut butter pretty quickly in my house. I mean, there is not better quick lunch than a pb&j, am I right? I love eating it on toast, in my smoothies, and mixed with a banana? Perfection.
I decided to make my own nut butter bc of how many bags of nuts I had with super small amounts. Too small to do anything with them on their own. I figured out how truly easy it is to make your own peanut butter by literally just adding peanut to the food processor. If you’re nuts are already roasted and salted, there is no need to add anything else. You can use almonds, sunflower seeds, cashews, pistachios, any of your favorite nuts! I love doing different combinations for my nut butters.
Here’s what you’ll need to make Homemade Nut Butter
any of your favorite nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews, pistachios, sunflower seeds, etc)
any add-ins (salt, cinamon, syrup, honey, oil, etc)
The trick with making the nut butter is just being patient to blend it until it is ultra-super creamy. It will definitely take between 5-10 minutes of blending. By the end, you’ll want to give your machine breaks by doing just 30 seconds on and off of blending, as to not overheat your food processor.
At first the nuts will turn to powder or very fine grains. Then as you keep going it will form a large ball of sticky dough. This is when you will start to give it breaks during the blending. After another few minutes, the creamy nut butter will start to form. Add in your mix-ins and blend a little more to incorporate.
