Gooey Chocolate Chip Banana Squares

I’ve been making these chocolate chip banana squares for years and fun fact, these were actually one of the first baking recipes I ever posted to All Types of Bowls! They are such a staple and are so easy to make when I want to use up any ripe bananas I have on hand.
Thes can be served for a sweet treat at dessert or even as a breakfast item with a cup of coffee. They slightly resemble banana bread but are way ooey and gooey-er, which is always better!

Dairy - Butter, Egg
Pantry - Salt, Vanilla, Flour, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

The best way to use up your ripe bananas are these ooey, gooey banana chocolate chip squares!
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) at room temperature
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ripened bananas
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Whisk 1 cup of brown sugar with 1 stick of butter at room temperature. Mix until smooth.
- Mix in the egg, salt, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Add in the mashed banana and mix again.
- Slowly mix in the flour until the batter forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and pour batter into 8x8 pan lined with greased parchment paper. Top with more chocolate chips.
- Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes and let cool before cutting.
