My family’s favorite cranberry sauce with a kick of bourbon!

Honestly, I was never so big into cranberry sauce as a kid. I mean, I feel like most kids aren’t. Except my sister. She is beyond obsessed with cranberry sauce and always has been. She’s basically a cranberry sauce connoisseur.

One year my aunt made a different cranberry sauce than the usual kind we were all used to, and my sister was a bit skeptical. But it immediately became her favorite that now this is the only way we can make the Thanksgiving cranberry sauce. This recipe even turned me into a cranberry sauce lover! And the not-so-secret ingredient in it is bourbon!

Bourbon Cranberry Sauce

Sweet and tangy cranberry sauce caramelized with bourbon. You'll be putting this on top of everything this Thanksgiving!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cranberries (a 12 oz bag is usually 3 cups for reference)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp bourbon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  2. In a baking dish, pour in the cranberries, sugar and cinnamon. Mix it together, cover with tin foil, and bake for 30 minutes until cranberries are tender and sugar is dissolved.
  3. Remove from the oven, mix it around, and put it back in the oven for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and pour in the bourbon. Mix and either serve or let it come to room temperature and store in the fridge.

Notes

  1. Can serve it warm right out of the oven or more traditionally, serve it cold.
  2. This cranberry sauce can be made a week in advance. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator until serving.
